Special Events in September

As part of the Diocese of Blackburn’s Centenary celebrations, churches across Lancashire are joining together for a special Mission Weekend from 11–13 September 2026.

Mission is simply about sharing the good news of Jesus and inviting others to discover more about the Christian faith. Over the weekend, churches across the Diocese will be opening their doors and taking the opportunity to welcome people who might not normally come to church.

Here at Freedom Church, we’ll be putting on events where everyone can come along, have fun, meet others and enjoy being part of our church family. Alongside this, we’ll have opportunities to hear about Jesus and what faith means to us.

The weekend is about praying, inviting and sharing — not about expecting people to already know anything about church or Christianity. Whether you’re a regular churchgoer, someone who hasn’t been to church for years, or you’ve never been before, you are very welcome.

We’re excited to be part of churches across Lancashire coming together for this special weekend, and we’re praying that it will be an opportunity for more people to discover the hope, love and welcome found in Jesus.

Family Pizza Night and Line Dancing
Friday 11th September 6pm

What better way to start our Mission Weekend than with pizza, family fun and a chance to spend time together? Join us at Freedom Church for a relaxed and informal evening with free pizza for everyone.

Once we’ve enjoyed our food, we’ll be getting moving with some family-friendly line dancing — a firm favourite at Freedom Church! Whether you’ve never tried it before or you’re already a dancing expert, it’s all about having fun together. Don’t worry if you don’t know the steps — you’ll soon pick them up!

Bring your family and friends, come hungry, and enjoy a fun evening of food, laughter, dancing and good company. Everyone is welcome!

Old School Bangers Afternoon
Saturday 12th September 1pm

Get ready to travel back in time as we bring back the nostalgia of the good old school assembly! Join us for an afternoon of classic school assembly anthems, plenty of singing and a few reminders of those songs we all somehow still remember years later!

There’ll be a BBQ, beer, a tuck shop and tie craft, so come along, grab some food, get involved and enjoy a relaxed afternoon of music, memories and fun. Whether you remember every word or just fancy a good sing-along, everyone is welcome!

Free entry – school uniform optional!

Celebration Sunday
Sunday 13th September 2:30pm

Come and celebrate with us at Freedom Church as we bring our Mission Weekend to a joyful close! This fun-filled afternoon will have something for everyone, with crafts, worship, prayer, bubbles and plenty of opportunities to have fun together.

Whether you’re a regular at church, haven’t been for a while, or have never been before, you’ll be very welcome. And to finish the afternoon, we’ll be serving up delicious ice cream sundaes for everyone to enjoy!
